Gold Nanoparticle-Based Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering for Noninvasive Molecular Probing of Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation

This study reports the use of gold nanoparticle-based surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) for probing the differentiation of mouse embryonic stem (mES) cells, including undifferentiated single cells, embryoid bodies (EBs), and terminally differentiated cardiomyocytes. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were successfully delivered into all 3 mES cell differentiation stages without affecting cell via...

Probing the Binding of Valacyclovir Hydrochloride to the Human Serum Albumin

UV-visible and Fluorescence spectroscopic methods were employed to study the interaction of human serum albumin (HSA) with Valacyclovir Hydrochloride. Additionally, molecular dynamics and molecular docking simulations were used to visualize and specify the binding site of Valacyclovir Hydrochloride. The Stern-Volmer and van't Hoff equations along with spectroscopic observations, were used to de...

Visualization of molecular fluorescence point spread functions via remote excitation switching fluorescence microscopy

The enhancement of molecular absorption, emission and scattering processes by coupling to surface plasmon polaritons on metallic nanoparticles is a key issue in plasmonics for applications in (bio)chemical sensing, light harvesting and photocatalysis. Nevertheless, the point spread functions for single-molecule emission near metallic nanoparticles remain difficult to characterize due to fluorop...

Double Amino Functionalized Ag Nanoparticles as SERS Tags in Raman Diagnostic

Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effect is currently exploited as the basis of a new type of optical labels for in vivo investigation of the tissues, especially for early medical diagnostic. Silver colloidal nanoparticles decorated with chemisorbed cresyl violet molecular species could act as hybrid SERS labels. Their Raman scattering properties have been characterized here using differ...

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles

The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...
